Apr. 6th, 2022 08:38 pmWe're in the last few weeks of planning and organising for the District X Community Centre. I've got the vendors all sorted for food and things, but we're looking to showcase other offerings as well. If anyone wants to help with setting things up on the 28th, that'd be beautiful and I'll cook something brilliant for you. Anyone who wants to discuss potential classes or other opportunities can sign up from now until the 28th, there's plenty of room and space at the Centre.
Sports teams and coaches are encouraged, anyone who might want to teach other types of classes, whether technical or crafty, etc. You're all welcome to together a basic information distribution type thing to catch visitors' interest. That's all going to be happening from 9a-6p on the 29th. Oh, and if anyone has any artwork that didn't sell at the art show last week, feel free to bring it. We'll be happy to display it. And books! If you've a stack of books you know you won't reread, please feel free to donate them to the 'take a book, leave a book' lending library. We've a garden setup on the roof, which we're hoping will help with some of the food insecurity issues in the neighborhood, so gardeners are certainly needed.
Clean-up's going to be the 30th. Again, any help is most appreciated. We've volunteers from the neighborhood, obviously, and some of the vendors will have their own people, but more help is always better.
Also, security. I'd like to keep the NYPD out of it, given the givens, so anyone who's willing and interested in helping on those three days -- or any other days, for that matter, until the regular security's sorted out -- would be most appreciated.
